Trailer Tuesday

This week’s new trailers feature children killing children at the government’s behest, children killing adults while wearing masks, and a Nobel Peace Prize winner.
Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom
Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom is a chronicle of Nelson Mandela’s life journey from his childhood in a rural village through to his inauguration as the first democratically elected president of South Africa. It’s directed by Justin Chadwick (The Other Boleyn Girl), and stars Idris Elba, Naomie Harris, and Robert Hobbs. It will see limited release started in late November, just in time for Oscar season.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
Katniss and Peeta’s dual-victory in the Hunger Games has caused unrest in the downtrodden districts of Panem, which puts them solidly in the crosshairs of the politicians in the Capital, and back in the Arena for the next year’s Hunger Games. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is directed by Francis Lawrence (Water for Elephants, I Am Legend,Constantine), and stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Sam Claflin, Woody Harrelson, and Donald Sutherland. It comes to theaters November 22nd.
Kick-Ass 2 (Red Band)
The superhero community is expanding as Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl join with a new crop of normal citizens inspired to put on a mask and fight crime as supervillains pop up to counter the heroes. Jeff Wadlow writes and directs and Chloë Grace Moretz, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, and a not-willing-to-promote-the-film Jim Carrey star. Kick-Ass 2 comes out August 16th. (Remember, Red Band means violence and/or cursing.)
