Now You See Me Sequel In The Works

Did you enjoy Now You See Me? We did. Good news then, The Hollywood Reporter reports that a sequel is in the works, with production to start next year. The $75 million movie has already brought in $235 million so far, more than both The Lone Ranger and White House Down.

Rob’s Review: White House Down

White House Down on Cinedraft.com
Letter Grade:
(?)

A
The Good:

Emmerich delivers great action
Tatum good in the action star role
Teaming of Tatum and Foxx results in a much steadier pace than Olympus Has Fallen
Joey King is great as Tatum's daughter

The Bad:

CGI is overused and noticeable
I'm not sure they understand how the 25th Amendment works...

Cast & Crew:

Writer: James Vanderbilt
Director: Roland Emmerich
Stars: Channing Tatum, Jamie Foxx, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Jason Clarke, Richard Jenkins, Joey King, James Woods

Rated PG-13 for prolonged sequences of action and violence including intense gunfire and explosions, some language and a brief sexual image.

If you see only one “the White house is taken over by terrorists and one bodyguard must single-handedly rescue a child and the President” movie this year, make it White House Down. I find that after seeing White House Down I’ve gone back in my head and retroactively downgraded Olympus Has Fallen.  I think White House Down has a more believable scenario for the White House being attacked, and the way White House Down structured the action led to a much more interesting movie.

is with the Capitol Police and guards the Speaker of the House() and is at the White House interviewing for a position with the White House’s Secret Service detail (which is lead by  and ). Tatum doesn’t get the job, but his daughter (), who idolizes the President(), is with him, so afterwards they go on the White House tour. While on the tour the White House is invaded by terrorists and the regular guards are taken out, leaving Tatum alone to get his daughter out and also rescue the President. (more…)

New Trailer: White House Down

White House Down on Cinedraft.com

New trailer for White House Down today. The first 3/4 of the trailer is actually pretty good, then it goes into action mode and I think things fell apart a little.

A federal law enforcement officer (Channing Tatum) must protect the president (Jamie Foxx) when a heavily armed group of paramilitary invaders attacks the White House.  I tried to make this synopsis as generic as possible so if they release yet another “White House is attacked” movie this year I can just change the names. The Armageddon to Olympus Has Fallen’s Deep Impact, Roland Emmerich directs and James Woods, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Richard Jenkins also star. White House Down hits the big screen June 28th.

Summer Movie Preview: June

It’s time for the next installment of our summer movie preview, this time we look all the way into June, 2013. “Zombies”, and Monsters, and Shakespeare, oh my!

The Internship

Release Date: June 7th

Synopsis: Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson get laid off and enter an internship program at Google where they must compete with younger, smarter interns for a job with the search giant. Also features Rose Byrne, B.J. Novak, Josh Gad, and Aasif Mandvi. Directed by Shawn Levy (Real Steel, Date Night, and the Night at the Museum franchise).

Our Thoughts:

Rob: I have a feeling that, for better or worse, you’re going to get exactly what you expect out of this one.

Jennie: I hope this movie is funnier than the trailer suggests. Also, am I the only one who thinks it’s strange that the old guy in the wheelchair knows who Charles Xavier is but they don’t have any clue?

Dave: I got to imagine if you’re an old, bald, professor in a wheelchair, you hear the reference from time to time.

Dave: I think the trailer looks funny enough. I generally enjoy the combination of Vaughn and Wilson, but I foresee waiting to see this one on on DVD. Looks like it may be the type of movie that shows you the funniest stuff in the trailer…but i guess you never know.

Nicki: I love this team. They could read the phone book and make me laugh. Just the scene of “What? What?!” alone, makes me want to see it.
